Information you choose to provide

Money Matters Brief

Signup is not available on this site yet. When Money Matters Brief signup is available, you may voluntarily provide an email address for occasional messages about financial guides, calculators, and credit-card benefit explanations. There will be no fixed publishing schedule, and a subscription will not be an account.

Subscription will require confirmation through Brevo before we treat the address as subscribed. Brevo would store the address and send the messages. This site will not keep its own database of subscribers. Brevo's storage location, and how long it would keep an address after unsubscribe, are not stated here.

Unsubscribe, once a message exists, stops further messages. It does not provide a copy of the address, a correction, or deletion. No way to make those requests is published yet, so the signup will not be offered until one is.

Card coverage request

The page about missing cards has a form for a card name and an optional note about what looks missing or wrong. It does not ask for an email address. The request can include the IP address, browser, country, and referring page that the host attaches to the submission. It is written to the site log. When those destinations are configured, it is also sent to a webhook and to Notion. Nothing from that form is added to the card catalog automatically.

Information collected while you browse

Calculators run from numbers you type. Those numbers are used in your browser to show a result. They are not added to a subscriber list.

The browser can store a few preferences on your device:

  • Appearance (palette and light or dark mode).
  • Recent searches, and a travel shortlist where that page offers one.
  • The date of the last visit, and a random session id kept for the browser session.
  • An analytics opt-out flag, set only if a page is opened with the internal parameter mm_internal=1. Opening the same page with mm_internal=0 removes it.

Page views and a small set of actions, such as opening a card or a search, are sent to /api/track on this site. A record can include the event name, the page path, the referrer, a card or intent already shown on the page, the session id, whether the visit looks like a crawler, and the time. The site log receives that record. It is not a newsletter list.

The same events are sent to Google Analytics, measurement id G-5KSHMNNZ0H, with IP anonymization turned on and Google signals turned off. The tag is loaded from Google. It can store its own identifiers. This site's code does not set its own cookies.

When a PostHog project key is present in the build, the same events are also sent to PostHog. Autocapture and session replay are off. The host in code defaults to https://us.i.posthog.com and can be changed at build time. Local development and an opted-out browser do not send these events.

Who else receives it

We do not sell personal information. The services above receive only the information described there:

  • Brevo, if Money Matters Brief signup is later published, for a confirmed subscription.
  • Google, for analytics.
  • PostHog, when that key is configured.
  • Notion and a webhook, when a card-coverage request is configured to use them.
  • Cloudflare, which hosts the site and can log requests.

Banks and card issuers do not receive your email address or analytics record from this site.

How long it is kept

A fixed retention period is not stated here. Analytics logs, Cloudflare logs, and a Notion card request follow those tools' own retention, which this page does not set.

The site is served over HTTPS. This page does not claim a security certification.

India

The site is published for readers in India. This page does not say that a registration, a consent manager, or a data-protection officer appointment has been completed. A process for access, correction, or deletion of a newsletter address is not published yet.

No privacy contact address is published. Unsubscribe is not that contact.
